Theres only one Ronaldo

After todays match Ronaldo is Uniteds top scorer. He is without a doubt one of the best players in the Premiership and very worthy of the number 7 shirt. All the opposition fans boo him but it just makes him play better. Hopefully he will win us the Premiership this season.

Are you ready to have kids?

- Mess Test
Smear peanut butter on the sofa and curtains. Place a fish stick behind the couch and leave it there all summer.

- Toy Test
Obtain a 55 gallon box of Legos (you may substitute roofing tacks if you wish). Have a friend spread them all over the house. Put on a blindfold and take off shoes. Try to walk to the bathroom or kitchen. Do not scream because this would wake a child at night.

- Grocery Store Test
Borrow one or two small animals (goats are best) and take them with you as you shop. Always keep them in sight and pay for anything they eat or damage.- Dressing TestObtain one large, unhappy, live octopus. Stuff into a small net bag making sure that all the arms stay inside.

- Feeding Test
Obtain a large plastic milk jug. Fill halfway with water. Suspend from the ceiling with a cord. Start the jug swinging. Try to insert spoonfuls of soggy cereal into the mouth of the jug, while pretending to be an airplane. Now dump the contents of the jug on the floor.

- Night Test
Prepare by obtaining a small cloth bag and fill it with 8-12 pounds of sand. Soak it thoroughly in water. At 3:00pm, begin to waltz and hum with the bag until 9:00pm. Lay down your bag and set your alarm for 10:00pm. Get up, pick up your bag, and sing every song you have ever heard. Make up about a dozen more and sing these too until 4:00am. Set alarm for 5:00am. Get up and make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years. Look cheerful.

- Ingenuity Test
Take an egg carton. Using a pair of scissors and pot of paint, turn it into an alligator. Now take a toilet paper tube and turn it into an attractive Christmas candle. Use only scotch tape and a piece of foil. Last, take a milk carton, a ping-pong ball, and an empty box of Cocoa Puffs. Make an exact replica of the Eiffel Tower.

- Automobile Test
Forget the BMW and buy a station wagon. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there. Get a dime. Stick it into the CD player. Take a family-size package of chocolate chip cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Run a rake along both side of the car. There, perfect!

- Physical Test
(Women)Obtain a large bean bag chair and attach it to the front of your clothes. Leave it there for 9 months. Then remove the beans. And try not to notice your closet full of clothes. You won’t be wearing them for a while.

- Physical Test
(Men)Go to the nearest drug store. Set your wallet on the counter. Ask the clerk to help himself. Now proceed to the nearest food store. Go to the head office and arrange for your paycheck to be directly deposited to the store. Purchase a newspaper. Go home and read it quietly for the last time.

- Final Assignment
Find a couple who already has a small child. Lecture them on how they can improve their discipline, patience, tolerance, and toilet training and child’s table manners. Suggest many ways they can improve. Emphasize to them that they should never allow their children to run wild. Enjoy this experience. It will be the last time you will have all the answers.

I'm so fat!!!

Ok I was looking at Steve and Karens wedding pics (very nice btw). I saw one pic with me in it and just thought WTF??? I know I got fat. I mean a size 16 is huge. I just forget sometimes. Why does this discourage me? I just passed me stone mark at Weight Watchers and very near my 10% weight loss. So why do I now feel like eating everything in the cupboards.

Obviously its a good thing I hate mirrors and photos.

Wish I could go for runs etc but not good for the heart. Time to get back on the push bike to encourage the weight loss. It gets harder the more I loose. I think the body gets used to it. I still aim for 2 pounds a week and have stuck fairly close to it.

Torquay United to sack players for diving

This is such a great idea. The rest of the league should start this rule.

LONDON (Reuters) - Fourth division club Torquay United said on Tuesday they will start taking disciplinary action against any of their players who dive or feign injury.

Torquay, who believe they are the first professional club in the world to begin such an initiative, will operate a "three strikes and out" policy and use video technology to prove cases.

First time offenders will be warned, players who dive again will be fined and third time offenders sacked or placed on the transfer list.

"British football has the opportunity to take a lead in resolving this major issue which is tarnishing our sport and marred the World Cup finals in Germany 2006," Torquay chairman Chris Roberts said in a statement.

OLE IS A LEGEND

You are my Solskjaer,
my Ole Solskjaer,
You make me happy,
when skies are grey,
Oh Alan Shearer,
was f*ckin dearer,
please don't take,
my Solskjaer away!

Who put the ball in the Germans' net
Who put the ball in the Germans' net
Who put the ball in the Germans' net
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Gary Neville

Gary Neville is a red
Is a red
Is a red
Gary Neville is a red
He hates scousers

Cheating Scots!!!

Free kick from nothing.

Hanging around in the penalty area when a penalty is being taken.

Thomas Graveson (no need to say anything more about that banker).

If Celtic didnt have the ref on side there is no way they would have won.

It does show the need for technology in the game. It would have been a totally different outcome.

Scottish football will never be as good as Premiership because they are crap when they dont have the ref on side.

If we come second that will be a good thing anyway because Barca will be second (results depending) so it would be better to face a 1st team than a 2nd.

Although maybe we could send the Scousers up there. Mid table SPL is higher than mid table Premiership.

I suppose when all is going bad I can just look at Liverpool and laugh laugh laugh.

Bring on Chelski!!!

Weight Watchers

Well I joined them a few weeks ago.

Not done too bad so far. 10 and a half pounds lost. Ideally I would like to be a size 10 again but would settle for a size 12. I just decided that I was not happy with my weight anymore and now my health is a bit better I can actually do something about it.

Following the diet is actually really easy. I was worried that everyone there would be really really fat but actually there are so many people that dont have too much to lose so I dont feel the thinest there and not the fattest either.

Only bad part is none of my clothes fit me anymore. I never kept any of my size 14s so I am stuck with trousers that are a little too large for the moment. In a few weeks hopefully they can be thrown out!

Sunday, October 15, 2006

I was in Portsmouth this weekend watching Level 42 which was really good.

I thought I would post a couple of pics I took of the Spinnaker Tower. It was a foggy day but still got a few good pics.

Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars

Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost

Wake me up when Septmber ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when Septmber ends

Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began

Wake me up when septmber ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars

Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost

Wake me up when septmber ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when Septmber ends

Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Ole is back

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored for the first time in 3 seasons. Fantastic! After all those injuries its just fantastic. Another game more goals! We have now scored 8 goals in two games and are two points clear at the top of the table.

What a great night of football.

Roy Keane taking over the Sunderland job is interesting. I believe its a great appointment. Hopefully it will turn their fortunes around.

Top of the table

While we are top of the table I thought it would be worth gloating!!!!

Great win over Fulham. Hopefully the rest of the season will go just as well!

Lost

Lost is without a doubt the best show on tv. I love the plot twists and the men are pretty nice too!

My initial thoughts on the island was all the characters died in the plane crash but that has been disproved now. Oh well.

There are so many great tv shows at the moment. I thought when Friends/Angel/Buffy finished nothing could replace then. But now I have Family Guy/Lost/Desperate Housewives/King of the Hill. Sad I know but I love those shows.

Back to real life. Tilly is clawing the carpets at the moment. I am not to sure how to get her to stop. Its just a phase and she will grow out of it but will the carpets last the phase. Any tips gladly received. Cats dont understand being told off. Probably because they think that they are to good to be told off.

Bingos

The funniest bingos people seems to get about not having children are:

-If your mother thought about children like you do you would not exist.... (well duh but strangley enough everyone is different and dont think the same as their parents)
-What if everyone felt the same way you do (if that was the case then the world would not be overpopulated, not a bad thing!)
-Just wait until your biological clock starts ticking. (does that actually exist? What if its broken or out of batteries)
-Your dogs are child substitutes (yep totally, but the are better than children. They can be trusted and dont need watching 24 hours a day)
-You’ll regret it. (maybe but its better than regretting having them)
-You’re selfish. (and arent people who have children because they want them selfish?)
-You’re not truly an adult until you have children. (I always want to be childlike. Thats why I love Disney so much.)
-Who is going to take care of you when you’re old? (carehomes?)

Now I just need someone to question me so I can try these out!

I'm back!

Haven't posted in a little while..

This from Dr. Joyce Brothers' column. Is the following true or false?
Couples who've made the decision not to have children rarely last, and when they do, the relationship is rarely happy.

Answer:
FALSE. Studies indicate that many childless couples are, in some senses, unusually happy and in enduring relationships, often because such couples tend to have common interests as well as economic advantages.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Well sad news today. Sir Alex Ferguson announced that Van Nistelrooy has requested to leave Manchester United. Cant say I am surprised after last season.

He made 219 appearences with 150 goals. He was an awesome player, I am gutted if reports are true that he is going to Madrid. I really hope that we make some new signings soon. Thomasz Kuszczak is a great signing but we need a striker to score 20 plus goals a season.

Still on United talk - I think the new kit looks great! I have pre-ordered mine today.

Hot and muggy

Should moan really but today has been too hot. Wouldn't mind so much but when you have to work on these days its horrible. Plus its really hard to get some decent sleep during the night.

The World Cup is nearly over. It will be a shame to see it finish. After that will have to wait a whole month before the Premiership starts again.

Speaking of football, I read this great story on Ananova before:

German police are hunting a 'prankster' who has been filling footballs with concrete.

The footballs have been left around Berlin with signs saying: "Can you kick it?"

Six of the concrete stuffed footballs have been found so far, all chained to fences.

A spokesman for the Berlin police said: "So far two young men, a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old, have been treated for injuries to their feet after kicking the footballs.

"We think they could have been left by someone who is sick of the World Cup and are investigating the matter as the balls seem to be deliberately designed to injure."

Cristiano Ronaldo

Ok so I could handle England losing to Portugal. Could even forgive Cristiano for what he did to Rooney (although thought it was disgusting). But now he has crossed the line and cannot be forgiven:

Cristiano Ronaldo has rocked Manchester United by admitting that reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid should Juan Miguel Villar Mir win the presidential elections on Sunday are true.

The Manchester United man made the revelation after scoring the penalty that knocked England out of the World Cup in Gelsenkirchen.

Ronaldo was quoted earlier in the week as stating he had agreed to move to Spain if Villar Mir emerged victorious in the club's elections, but the report was dismissed by both United and manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, Ronaldo has now shocked his employers after conceding that he is keen on a switch to Los Merengues.

"Yes, they are true," he said when quizzed on the reports, adding later: "After the World Cup, I decide my life."

Ronaldo now seems intent on securing a switch away from Old Trafford, but his relations with his team-mates would have been tetchy in any case after his performance in Germany.

What ever happened to loyalty. And why would he even want to play for Madrid anyway. They are not very good. We have won more than them over the past couple of years. I feel totally betrayed and am sure all the other United fans who stuck by his diving and cheating because they believed he was a good player.

He has 4 years left on his United contract and will not go cheap. Hopefully this will end up working out for the best. After all we have Wayne Rooney and he is forever far superior to that little cheat.

RIP Eddie!

I was very sad to read that Eddie (the dog from Frasier) died....

It may have been a dog's life, but Moose, the Jack Russell terrier of Frasier fame, wasn't one to complain.
Kelsey Grammer's canine sidekick, known as Eddie on the long-running show, died Thursday at the ripe old age of 16 and a half, his trainer, Mathilde Halberg told People magazine.
"[H]e just had an incredible charisma and was such a free spirit," Halberg told the magazine of the dog some called the Lassie of the '90s.
Moose played Eddie for 10 years on the former NBC must-see TV staple and was known for his ability to steal scenes from his human costars.
"He was always trying to put Frasier in uncomfortable circumstances," Halberg said.
Other career highlights included landing a starring role in the film My Dog Skip, as an older version of Skip (who was played by his son, Enzo), gracing the covers of Life, TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly, and penning his autobiography, My Life As a Dog, with a little help from TV writer Brian Hargrove (Wanda At Large, Titus).
In 2003, Animal Planet ranked Eddie the Dog fifth in its 50 Greatest TV Animals special, behind only Lassie, Kermit the Frog, Flipper and Mr. Ed.
However, the precocious pup wasn't always destined for greatness. His first family found him to be more of a challenge than they were willing to handle, as the youthful Moose was destructive, barked a lot, refused to be house-trained and even killed a neighbor's cat.
When he was two and a half, Moose was put on a plane from Florida to Los Angeles, where he got a second chance under Halberg's tutelage.
"I saved him from the pound. His owners called me as a last resort," Halberg told People. "He was extremely mischievous, always escaping, chewing up things and running off."
After six months of training, Moose proved he had what it took to make it in Hollywood when he went on his first audition and beat out his canine competition for the Frasier role.
"Moose had a great disposition for training," Halberg said in a 1994 interview with Animal Press. "He loved it right away...it calmed him down a little. It?s as if all of a sudden he had a purpose in his life."
At the age of 10, Moose retired from show business, turning over the role of Eddie to Enzo and settling into doggy old age.
"The retirement of Moose was gradual," Halberg said in a 2002 interview with The Pet Press. "For a couple of years Enzo was doing all the fast-action, jumping up and down, retrieving or running moves. Anything that I thought was becoming a little too strenuous for Moose."
Even so, Moose still managed to outlive the Emmy-winning series, which came to an end in May 2004.

Rain Rain Rain

Well its has been a horrible day. I hate the rain. Was looking back at my holiday photos of Orlando. Days like these make you want to jump on a plane and head to the sunshine. This was the view we had from our hotel in Orlando. We stayed at the Sheraton Studio City Hotel. It was an amazing hotel. They put us on the 16th floor so we had amazing views. I would love to go back to Orlando soon as there is so much we didnt get round to doing.

It was great that England won their match today. I am watching Portugal v Holland at the moment. Its so frustrating that Cristiano Ronaldo has got injured. All the Man U players seem to be getting injured at the moment. First Rooney then Vidic, Neville, Ferdinand and now Ronaldo.

Happiest day of the year

According to the news reports today is the happiest day of the year. Hmmm not too sure on that one. Yes its a Friday but we still have to work. Maybe a Saturday or Sunday would have been more appropriate. Especially if England win their match.

Whenever I go on my computer now my cat Lucy seems to like sitting on the chair next to me. I think its very sweet. She seems very attached to me. She even sleeps on me at night which isnt the nicest of things during the summer and your hot enough already. Lucy is very sweet though she is a little overweight. She doesnt eat much she is just lazy.

Speaking of cats I have noticed that since getting my new kitten Tilly, Barney has been much friendlier. He is actually turning into a sweetie. He is one now and finally starting to grow up. He is one of the largest cats I have seen. The only problem we have with him nowdays is that he loves to chew. He chews clothes, wires, carpet. I think the house is cat proofed now. They are all so spoilt. I have just ordered a new cat condo it will go nearly to the ceiling. I think they will love that. The current one is about shoulder height and is very popular.

Rib Trip

First of all what a poor performance by England. They are never going to win the World Cup playing like that.

Anyway we got to go on the Rib Voyage today. It was brilliant. We went on the joint island trip which was basically going round Herm and Sark for two hours. The time flew by. Round by Herm on The Humps we actually got to see Puffins. They are such cute little creatures.

Also saw a seal bobbing up and down in the water. After that we went round Sarks coastline. Its amazing to see. The large cliff faces and hundreds of birds. Its just so lovely. I was thinking that you could start filming a version of lost there because it looks so empty. There are numerous caves in the cliffs so one day I will travel to Sark and explore some. Our guide said that its possible to explore them. If the tide had been slightly higher they could have got the Rib in one.

Unfortunately we didnt see any dolphins. Our guide said some were spotted off Sark on the Sunday and we did have a look but obviously they had moved on.

Anyway I would recommend this trip to anyone. We will probably try and do it again later on in the summer and see if the wildlife has changed any. I am one for getting seasick but handled it very well. Two hours sped past.

One tip would be wear sunscreen. They provide you with nice warm jackets and as it was a cloudy day I didnt think of putting something on my face. Well that was a big mistake.

First day of holiday

I have taken a couple of days off to enjoy the World Cup and generally relax.

Took my kitten Tilly to the vets this morning. She is 12 weeks old and very small but is finally big enough for her injections. Its quite hard to get a good picture of her because she is so fast.

Also popped down to A Piece of Cake in Mill Street. I have got to say their food is great. A filling lunch with drinks was only 10.95. Now that was good value.

Going on a rib voyage tomorrow. That will be interesting. The forcast is force 3 to 4 so hopefully wont be too rough. Will report back on it tomorrow. Hopefully will get to see lots of wildlife around the islands.

Good day all round

Well its been a sunny day in Guernsey for a change. Hopefully it will be this nice next week when I am off work.

England won their match thankgoodness. Although not convincingly.

Its nice to see Rooney back and have a good match. Aaron Lennon was man of the match without a doubt. He turned it around. I still dont think England have too much chance of winning but you never know. They really need to step up a gear.

I love the world cup. Its so entertaining. Football everyday!! Its fantastic. I really dont know how I will cope when it finishes and I have a whole month to wait for more football. Oh well fixtures are out next week so thats something to look forward to.

Mission to Space

I read this today on Yahoo news

A family whose 4-year-old son died after riding Mission Space at Epcot filed a lawsuit against Disney on Tuesday.
Exactly one year after Daudi Bamuwamye died at Epcot, his parents filed the wrongful-death lawsuit, WESH 2 News reported.
The lawsuit claims there was not enough warning about the ride, and it criticizes Disney's emergency response after the incident.
Disney responded with a statement that said while they sympathize with the family, they disagree with the assertions in the lawsuit.
Disney also pointed out that a medical examiner's report concluded Daudi suffered from pre-existing heart disease.
Disney has since offered a less-intense version of Mission Space to sensitive riders that doesn't spin, but company officials said that's simply to make the ride available to more people.

Now it seems to me that this was just a tragic accident. I cannot see that it is Disney's fault.

There are so many warnings at the start of the ride (or there was when I was there).

Its so sad that they lost their child but I really cannot see what a lawsuit is going to do.

Football

And you thought British fans were dedicated:

Two World Cup fans from Uzbekistan cycled 4,000 miles across Europe to get an autograph from German goalie Oliver Kahn.
Akram Marufshonow and Musadshon Chornidow left Tashkent in March to meet their idol.
Kahn heard about their 4,000-mile journey through a German journalist who was covering their trip and agreed to meet the pair in Berlin.
When the three came face to face both Marufshonow and Chornidow burst into tears and hugged the German star while repeating in Russian: "Mr. Kahn you do not know what an honour this is for us."
The goalie gave them both an autograph and said: "I just can't believe this. It's amazing."

Saying that, if I could afford it I would go to every Man United match possible.

First Post

Well for someone who usually has a lot to say I am not too sure what to put.

I thought I would mention this article from bbc website which is pretty interesting:

Childless or childfree? Not so long ago, all women without children were known as childless, with its implication of a state of loss. Nowadays, a growing number of women are insisting on the term childfree - with its emphasis on liberation.

In the UK, the most commonly cited statistic is that by 2010, one in four will be either childfree or childless.

Jonathan McCalmont is the founder of Kidding Aside (The British Childfree Association), which was first set up on the internet to lobby for equality for people without children.
He is fed up with the way the government is wooing parents with longer maternity pay, paternity leave, flexible hours and family tax breaks. He describes the latter as "simply a middle-class tax break masquerading as social policy."
He is angry at what he says is a redistribution of money from people without children to those with.
He contends that childfree people who have other responsibilities - such as looking after an elderly parent - should get the same benefits.
"We believe it is up to the individual to decide what constitutes a family," he says. "It's not up to the state."

So it appears there are more of us than people seem to realise.

I seem to know more people without children than with them. That may change as I am only in my early twenties but here is hoping it wont.
